Today’s outing was a beautiful blend of sunshine, nature, and imagination as we set off on a delightful wander through Fisherman's Walk—a hidden gem perfect for curious minds and little explorers! 🌿👣
Our adventure began with a game of "spot the squirrels," as we wandered beneath the leafy canopy, eyes peeled for a bushy tail or a sudden rustle in the trees 🐿️🍃. Along the way, we stumbled upon magical trail markers that sparked the boys' imaginations—a shimmering mermaid’s tail 🧜♀️ and striking metal bird sculptures 🐦, each one adding a touch of mystery and storytelling to our journey.
Soon, we reached the old bandstand, where the fun really kicked off! W dashed inside with boundless energy, belting out “Lava, Chicken” at full volume while pretending to rock out on an imaginary guitar 🎸🔥🐔. Meanwhile, S was determined to master climbing the structure's outer frame—his balance and determination were impressive 💪. Once at the top, the boys turned the bandstand into their personal playground, using the slopes as slides to zoom down with laughter echoing around us 🛝.
Our next stop—and the highlight of the day—was the pond, where nature had some real magic in store 🐸🌊. The boys were fascinated by the hundreds of tadpoles wriggling near the edge. We talked about how those tiny tails would soon vanish as legs emerged and they began their transformation into frogs. With great care and curiosity, the boys gently observed a few up close, always mindful to keep them in water, before safely returning them to their home.
To our surprise, we spotted a large black fish calmly gliding through the middle of the pond, with tadpoles cleaning its back—an unexpected and mesmerising moment 🐟✨. Skimming across the water’s surface were some quick-footed pond skaters, and with a bit of patient watching, we even saw what we believed was a newt, quietly lurking among the reeds🦎.
As we made our way toward the sand park, we saw a Starling hopping through the grass in search of worms, adding another nature-spotting win to the day 🐦. At the park, the boys wasted no time climbing the large play structure and zooming down the big slide with shouts of joy! W showed bravery and focus as he tackled the fireman’s pole for the first time, and both boys spent a relaxing end to the afternoon digging in the sand and swinging beneath the sky 💫.
Overall, it was a day filled with laughter, learning, and a touch of wild wonder—a perfect springtime adventure that brought together exploration, creativity, and outdoor fun! 🌼🧭🌿
